North Downtown Specific Plan Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to provide stakeholder and citizen perspectives, participation, and involvement in the North Downtown area policy development and implementation. The committee serves as advisers to the City Council, Planning Commission, City staff, and Specific Plan lead consultant. The Committee's responsibilities include:
- Review and provide input on progress reports and technical studies
- Review plan alternatives and help identify a preferred alternative
- Review potential opportunity sites for new development
- Provide input on design guidelines and desirable amenities in new development
- Make a formal recommendation to the Planning Commission and City Council on the final draft of the Specific Plan
The North Downtown Specific Plan Advisory Committee meets monthly. Meetings are open to the public. The 15-member committee includes representatives from all five City Commissions, North Downtown business owners, major property owners, and auto dealers and area residents.

Advisory Committee meeting #4
The fourth meeting of the Advisory Committee was be held on October 24, 2016. The discussion included an overview of the Existing Conditions reports (focusing on key takeaways form each chapter) and led into brainstorming opportunities, obstacles and details of what it would mean to achieve the stated goals of the Specific Plan process. On September 26, 2016, the Advisory Committee conducted a public meeting at which they were briefed on some of the existing conditions analysis that had been conducted and provided feedback on the existing setting.
