Description: To preserve, maintain, and maximize the service life of public streets and facilities, several parking lots at Heather Farm Park ball fields and forty-nine (49) streets are included in this year’s slurry seal program. The City has hired a private contractor to apply the slurry seal. As part of the project, crosswalks will be upgraded to enhance safety, and a new, buffered bike lane will be added.
Impacts: Over the course of this work, the residents within the work areas may experience traffic delays. Some streets may be closed to traffic. In preparation of any street closure, barricade signs will be posted in advance. During the street closure, no parking will be allowed on the streets between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Barricade signs will be posted in advance of closures and residents will be notified the week before work begins via a second notice and/or door hanger. During street closure, there will be no parking on the street or driving, in or out, between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, so cars must be parked outside of the work areas prior to the work beginning. Any cars parked on the street in a work area will be towed by the Walnut Creek Police Department.
You will have no vehicular access to driveways and streets. Access will be provided in the event of an emergency. For a few days following the surface treatment seal, you will notice loose gravel; it will be swept up in a few days.
Even if your street is not being resurfaced, access to your residence may be affected by work on adjacent streets.

Description: Curb ramp upgrades, median push button removal and sidewalk repair and tree removal on Ygnacio Valley Road from Walnut Blvd. to Via Monte.
Impacts: There will be lane closures on Ygnacio Valley Road between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Expect delays.
Dates: March 1, 2017 through Summer 2017
Description: The City will be improving and/or installing, curb ramps and signage in the areas surrounding Foothill Middle School and Walnut Acres Elementary School. Curb ramps will also be installed on Marchbanks Drive and Oak Grove Road. These installations and improvements will increase safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and disabled persons.
This work is being completed in preparation of the 2017 Slurry Project.
Impacts: Throughout the spring of 2017, sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours are expected. Parking and bike lane access adjacent to the work may be impacted. There will be periodic lane closures on Oak Grove Road.

Description: Installation of a new 24-inch water main along S. Broadway, from the midpoint of the Nordstrom Garage to the intersection of Newell Avenue.
Impacts: The majority of the work will be performed at night, with southbound lane closures and detours expected.

Description: This project will begin at Hillside Drive extending to Civic Drive on Ygnacio Valley Road and includes tree replacement, sidewalk repair and ADA improvements, and roadway repaving.
Impacts: The sidewalk repair and tree replacement will include daytime lane closures on Ygnacio Valley Road Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Portions of the sidewalk will be closed during the project.
Repaving will be performed overnight Sunday through Thursday between 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM to reduce the traffic impact. Major delays are expected. Drivers are advised to take alternative routes.

Description: Pedestrian and bicycle improvements on the south side of Hillside Drive from Parkside Drive to Oakland Blvd. including:
a new pathway on the south side of Hillside Drive from Parkside Drive connecting to the sidewalk on Ygnacio Valley Road west of Oakland Blvd.
a new pedestrian traffic signal at the Southbound Interstate 680 on-ramp.
new Share the Road bicycle markings and signage on the south side of Hillside Drive from Parkside Drive to the Southbound Interstate 680 on-ramp.
a bike lane will be installed under the overpass.
Impact: During construction, “No Parking” signs will be posted in affected areas in advance of the work. Vehicles that are left in posted areas will be towed, if necessary, at the vehicle owner’s expense.

Description: Construction work will include installing new parking lot lights and bases, new pathway light heads, and new bollard lights. There will be cutting and trenching in the parking lots that will be filled in with asphalt at the end of construction.

Description: Project will install a 312.33 kw Photovoltaic System on new carports in the parking lots adjacent to Community Center and soccer field. This project will allow for the City to meet its power requirements cost effectively, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner.
Impacts: Portions of the parking lot will be fenced off and unavailable to the public adjacent to the soccer field and Community Center.

Description: This private development project in the public right of way includes demolition of the existing Promenade buildings (formerly California Pizza Kitchen/Starbuck’s) to make way for a brand new retailer. Renovation of the entire Promenade Plaza, where the center fountain now resides, will begin in late Summer 2017 to complete in June 2018.
Impacts: During demolition, there will be night time lane closures on Olympic Blvd. (eastbound) from Locust Street to South Main Street to continue through April 2017. During new construction, night time work will require a right lane closure (northbound) in front of the Promenade through the project completion in June 2018.
Temporary fencing has been installed around the existing buildings. In April 2017, a 16-foot high barricade will displace the temporary fencing as the construction begins.
All existing stores in the Promenade will remain open with uninterrupted public access during Broadway Plaza hours.
