2017 Slurry Project

Streets in your neighborhood will be resurfaced with sealing materials this year. Cracked sidewalk will not be repaired as part of this project; however, curb ramps in many locations will be constructed. Exact work dates on specific streets have not yet been determined. The contractor will post barricade signs on those streets that will receive the new resurfacing treatment before the work begins. Click here to view the map

Walker/Homestead Drainage Improvement

The city is performing surveying and digging on Walnut Boulevard to identify the locations of underground utilities. Surveying may extend into the front yards of abutting properties.

2016 Storm Drain Improvements

Construction began on 8/22/2016 as crews began to locate existing utilities at 5 different sites including 2nd Ave, on Broadway in front of Civic Park, the intersection of Larkey and San Luis, the intersection of Sierra and Walker, and the court on Ramsay Circle. The preliminary schedule calls for storm drain improvements starting on 2nd Ave on 8/30/16. Expect lane closures and delays. Pedestrians may be detoured around work areas.

Crosswalks Improvements Project

Locations:  Work will be done at five locations:  Two locations on Locust Street, two locations on Trinity Avenue, and one location at the Main and Arroyo Way intersection.

Construction is in progress on North Locust Street (in front of the Lesher Center parking garage).  Work on Locust Street near the Peet’s Coffee & Tea Store is in progress. Please check back for additional information on the schedule of the remaining crosswalks. Construction is in progress on Trinity Avenue.

Expect lane closures and delays.  Pedestrians may be detoured around work areas.

Broadway Plaza construction impacts -- Updated January 2017

Installation of a new 24-inch water main will commence on January 29, 2017 along S. Broadway, from the midpoint of the Nordstrom Garage to the intersection of Newell Avenue.  This work will continue into mid-April 2017.  The majority of the work will be performed at night, with southbound lane closures and detours expected.  Partial lane closures will occur during the daytime hours for some of the initial work activities.

Promenade and South Main Street Demolition of the existing Promenade buildings, (former California Pizza Kitchen/Starbuck’s buildings), are to commence in late February 2017 to make way for a brand new retailer.  Temporary fencing has been installed around the existing buildings. 

In early April 2017, a 16-foot high substantial barricade will displace the existing temporary fencing as the new construction commences.  Construction of the new store will continue through June 2018.  In addition, renovation of the entire Promenade plaza (the area where the center fountain currently resides) will commence late Summer 2017 and complete concurrent with the new store opening.  All existing stores in the Promenade will remain open with uninterrupted public access during Broadway Plaza hours.

Nighttime work will consist of a right lane closure (northbound) in front of the Promenade through the project completion in June 2018.  Nighttime lane closure work on Olympic Blvd. (eastbound) to through traffic from Locust Street and South Main Street is expected to continue until April 2017.

Improvements to Larkey Swim Center 

Construction of the pool and improvements to the pool house continue with the Contractor continuing to install storm drain pipe along the parameter of the pool.  During construction the parking lot will be closed to public parking.  On street parking along Buena Vista will remain available for those wishing to enjoy the park.
